Congratulations to our Music Department for an outstanding concert this weekend. We raised $1680 for the American Red Cross. That makes almost $12,000 since we began this event in 2014! @RedCross
Before we begin, it helps to understand the business of music.
With music, every song has two sides to it: the master and composition (publishing).
Typically, Record Labels own the master while the songwriter(s) and/or their Music Publishing Company owns the publishing.

Of course, the student musicians at WHS love to make music for the sheer joy of it but the benefits of music-making are an important part of teaching the brain how to learn and make connections.
Here's a great example of how making music has helped someone with a brain injury.
Not many people know that I play the French horn. I hadn’t played since I was child. But after I was shot, I started speech therapy, physical therapy, and music therapy. Relearning an instrument has been a huge part of my recovery, and I’m getting stronger every day.
The benefits of wearing a masks greatly helps mitigate the spread of Covid-19. However, singers and actors have special considerations involved in performing with a mask.
