@AkuilaDok @bzwithalaak That's sums it, have met some devs that fail in system design concepts and also realized most ai models perform bad on logic but better on design side(ui). U only gonna get good on logic if you worked on a number of projects eg (backends)

@AkuilaDok @bzwithalaak But CS does not equate to programming , a CS grad could be better off in low level programming such as embedded systems. But when comes to like web dev where new concept are adopted every quarter, you better off self teaching yourself. And after grad, still have to learn..

When I set up a new Hetzner VPS first thing I do install Tailscale and once I'm in via Tailscale lock down the firewall to only accept web traffic on HTTPS 443 for Cloudflare IPs and SSH 22 for Tailscale IP

That way nobody can get in

I know I keep repeating this but it should be basics of setting up a new VPS

So basic IMHO it should be part of any VPS service to default install Tailscale and enable it so it's the only way to get in

Why?

A VPS server is just like your laptop or destop computer but now imagine if it's connected to the entire internet with 8 billion people that can access it and try hack it

You want to only have it accessible to you

And if you want to host a website on your VPS (like I do), you should only let Cloudflare access your VPS so it can stand in front and block any hack attempts

Never expose a VPS to the world wide web which realistically is the world WILD web

someone built an OPENSOURCE MILITARY RADAR that tracks multiple targets up to 20km away

its called AERIS-10, full github repo schematics, PCB layouts, FPGA code, python GUI, everything under MIT license

commercial phased array radar starts at $250,000. military surplus is $10,000-50,000 but its decades old analog junk with no electronic beam steering

this does electronic beam steering at 10.5GHz, pulse compression, doppler processing, multi-target tracking on a real time map

two versions: 3km range with patch antenna array, 20km range with 32x16 slotted waveguide array and GaN AMPLIFIERS

custom frequency synthesizer, 16 front-end chips, FPGA doing all signal processing, GPS and IMU for ACCURATE target coordinates when the platform moves

all gerber files included so you can order the PCBs and build it yourself

one person built what defense contractors charge a quarter MILLION for and open sourced it

@JoeDudim @atemK93 It was never effective, Nasir siege had air cover but the base was over run. SSPDF AF was not hitting strategic military assets, you need intel on the ground to coordinate that. I think Uganda played major role in our air assaults, which could have led to the pause: "Elections"
