@cglassey_author CO2 is not Miracle-Gro™. Yes, it is a plant 'nutrient', but plants require a balance of nutrients (N,P,K, Ca, Mg, etc) for metabolic health. Growth stops when any one required nutrient is absent. A 200 yr old agronomic principle, Leibig's Law of the Minimum, explains this.

@BackBar67 @atrupar Sears, K-mart and Toys 'R' Us were bankrupted by Private Equity, not by Amazon. PE bought them, burdened them w/ crushing debt loads, and stripped them of assets. Would they have eventually died due to 21st Century retail competition? Perhaps, but that is not what killed them.

@FarmerCrafted In the US, +30M acres devoted to corn for bio-ethanol, mostly in IA and NE, on excellent land. Roughly a fifth of that is devoted to all forms of US solar infra most of which is on marginal lands. Bio-ethanol program hasn't met any of its original objectives.

@JeremiahDJohns the credit markets were completely frozen as well. And if they didn't figure out a way to unfreeze them, all of the listed problems would've become +10x worse. BTW, Ben Bernanke's PhD was on how FDR bailed out the banks. In this 1 case the banks actually paid the TARP back.
