Thanks for sharing! We have seen a bunch of notes in other media but it looks like our article wasn’t read before journalist wrote those notes… there’s not bad publicity people say… however we recommend to find the original source. This wasn’t a #lostshark!
There aren't a lot of fish genera out there that begin with the letter F, so this species was new to me! Fenestraja sinusmexicanus, the Gulf of Mexico pygmy skate, can grow to be ~35 cm long which makes it a bit smaller than most skates. #FishABC

It's #FishABC day E and #FlatSharkFriday which means the ornate sleeper ray, Electrolux addisoni, is up! This species was first spotted in 1984, but it wasn't described until 2007 because it proved quite difficult to catch!

See-through #shark head! X-ray CT scan of a hatchling small spotted catshark (Scyliorhinus canicula) - ventral view of the head. The eyes, the huge nasal regions (olfactory chambers) and gills are all visible! #shark 🦈 #devbiol#evodevo@UF_CLAS @UFsharkresearch #ghostshark
