South Korean football fans have somehow managed to drag poor Jonathan into the country’s World Cup heartbreak… and he wasn’t even playing. 😭💀

After South Korea was officially eliminated from the 2026 FIFA World Cup following DR Congo’s dramatic 3-1 comeback victory over Uzbekistan, some furious fans decided to take their frustration out on broadcaster Jonathan simply because he was born in the DR Congo.
His Instagram comment section quickly turned into a battlefield, with people demanding that he apologize, accusing him of secretly supporting Congo and even joking that South Korea failed to reach the Round of 32 because of him.
The funniest part is that Jonathan has lived in South Korea since elementary school and has said many times that he barely remembers Congo because he grew up in Korea. Yet that didn’t stop some fans from making him the scapegoat for the national team’s disastrous campaign.
Thankfully, plenty of netizens stepped in to defend him, calling out the ridiculous hate and reminding everyone that Jonathan had absolutely nothing to do with what happened on the football pitch.

One of the most important figures in women’s football, Hedvig Lindahl, recently announced that she refused an invitation from FIFA to join the FIFA Legends team for a promotional match ahead of the upcoming Women’s World Cup.

She said she did not want her image and public profile to be used to legitimize FIFA’s so called Peace Prize.

“I need FIFA to clearly condemn actions that kill footballers. For example, the financing of a genocide and the genocide itself. Hundreds of children, women and men who love football have been killed,” she said.
