Fun Easter fact, since the Gospels recorded that there was an earthquake when Christ died, archeologists have checked the sediments which show evidence of earth quakes and it turns out there were two dates when there is clear evidence that an earthquake happened that also fall on Passover eve during the reign of Pontius Pilate:
Friday April 7, 30 AD
and Friday April 3, 33 AD.
When astronomers check planetary records it also turns out that the second date April 3, 33AD also records a “blood moon” which is a partial lunar eclipse.
So given both records, the strongest evidence for the day of the Crucifixion based on the earthquake and the lunar eclipse is April 3, 33AD during the last three years of Pilate’s governorship of Judea.
Happy Easter, everyone.
