Johnny Mercer promoted an “error” through press about whether or not he received £17,000 in ministerial severance after Truss sacked him,
implying he “did not accept the cash” ⏬️
A year later it was shown he’d received £13,561
But he’d failed to correct the important article
"Thames Water spilt more sewage into rivers than year before. London spills increased more than fourfold last year,"
So despite all the snivelling apologies, the insincerities, the sorry, sorry, sorries. Everything you need to know right there.

Today’s article by @martinwolf_ is a tour de force.
We have lost our #FreedomofMovement but politicians have taken on new #Freedoms which have greatly undermined our society and reputation
Every word of this. Read the full article though @ft👏👏 @GrassrootsEU
@LBC@mrjamesob Bet he longs for thatched pubs in every village/town with warm ale on tap, the return of phone boxes and s everything else that people of a certain age thought was brilliant about this country back in the 70s and 80s
It’s worth watching Martin Lewis pull Jeremy Hunt up on his politicking nonsense of "everyone will be better off".
Martin's precision with numbers is superb. Hunt left floundering.
He can't bluster with Lewis 👍🏼👍🏼 love it
Coming soon: An ITV drama in which Toby Jones plays a businessman watching his export business & livelihood get destroyed by Brexit red tape and European customers buying elsewhere.
Susanna Reid and Richard Madeley start a GMB campaign to rescind Lord Hannan's peerage.
After the effect of 'Mr Bates vs the Post Office', let’s hope Toby Jones is also working on new TV dramas about water pollution, climate change, covid, PPE contracts, the refugee crisis, the cost of living, energy prices, and the NHS
Sorry @Jeremy_Hunt but what about that £40 Billion lost revenue from being members of the EU, or that £37B Test & Trace waste, or that £100B+ on HS2, or that £8B in useless PPE, that £7B loan fraud, That £11B Sunak lost ref interest hedging, the £43B EU divorce bill etc etc
Your reminder...
In 2021 Sunak cut the money given to the Environment Agency to maintain existing flood protection schemes
Reduced it by £34m to £201m
And then to £194m the following year
For context:
Amount spent on Rwanda plan to date:
£290m.

@Jeremy_Hunt You're not really telling the truth are you?
This could be achieved without any additional tax, by calculating the national debt properly and removing the overstatement, or better still, acknowledging our fiscal sovereignty and removing the arbitrary Tory debt reduction target.
'We haven't got enough money to spend £2 billion a year paying doctors, but we can find £8 billion a year to cut a tax that's only paid by the richest 4%.'
@BenKentish points out the flaw in the government's claim that the UK 'can't afford' a pay rise for junior doctors.
Richard Tice says "Reform UK is the party of the working class."
Can this be the same Richard Tice whose multi-million £ property development scheme with the [checks notes] Earl of Bathurst uses Bermuda to avoid paying capital gains tax in the UK?
@therealGDJ@GMB@susannareid100 Perhaps the £1.9Bn to pay them should be used instead of cutting inheritance tax for the elite 5% costing us £9Bn a year - as always with the self serving tories - look after your rich mates and let everyone else suffer….
Claiming that a £2 billion pay rise for junior doctors is unaffordable would be more compelling if you hadn’t been telling journalists a fortnight ago that you were considering spending £8 billion on scrapping inheritance tax…
The hard Brexit right won unprecedented power four years ago with Johnson. And what did they do? Screw up Brexit. Ruin our international reputation. Crash the economy, decimate our public services and plunder the public purse.
Never forget
