Grok says, that the turbine in a turbopump of raptor engine is a radial turbine and not an axial turbine. This is similar to a turbine wheel in a turbocharger. In such cases only conventional cast superalloys are used, whereas you have single crystal superalloys in the first stage of a gas turbine, then directionally solidified and in the last stages or vanes conventional cast alloys. While the investment casting process is in principle the same, the manufacturing of single crystals requires a special treatment.

My understanding: it's doable, but not easy

@CernBasher @aaronburnett Yes, there are not many foundries that do investment casting of superalloys for blades and vanes. For large gas turbines, the blades in the later stages are pretty big. So additive manufacturing is still a limited option, also due to quality issues.
