Coach Erik DeHaven and the John Cooper Dragons will face new challenges this season as they move up to SPC 4A. Leading the Dragons is star running back Dean Calhoun, who will be running behind a solid offensive line anchored by Junior David Esquivel and Senior Will Meek. Sophomore Colson Collins will be the quarterback, with plenty of targets to throw to, including Senior Skyler Loggins, Junior Eric Sipko, and Junior Cooper Dupuis. On the defensive side, Sophomore Lucas Triplett will hold down the line with support from Senior Jose Paez, Junior Chris Prettyman, and Junior Z Hemani. Junior Colten Rhoden III will lead the linebackers, with assistance from Cooper Dupuis. Senior Defensive Back Connaghan Hou will secure the secondary with help from Senior Colin Austin and Junior Pierson Todd.
Overall, the John Cooper Dragons have a very young and talented roster on both sides of the football, but the question remains: will they be able to compete in a tougher district?
2024 The John Cooper School WR Gus Feinberg will be a key returning player for the Dragons this upcoming season.
The 6’4 athlete just won the High Jump at the SPC Championships with a height of 6’2”.
2024 The John Cooper School DL Jackson Todd is a key piece returning next season.
His leadership and experience on the defensive line will help the Dragon defense defend their title this upcoming season.
It was great seeing 2025 The John Cooper School ATH Dean Calhoun today while watching practice.
The state champion was very important to the offense last season but now will play a crucial role for the Dragons next season as a junior. Big season ahead for the elite athlete.
2024 The John Cooper School LB Cole Sheppard will be a key piece of the Dragon defense as they defend their title.
Standing at 6’1 220, he will be a senior leader for the Dragons. He also just broke the school power clean record with 270. Look out for him this season.
2026 The John Cooper School QB Santiago Fernandez was one that caught our eye out at practice today.
The 6’3 left-handed freshman will be competing for the starting QB job this season.
He made some impressive throws during practice to definitely be one to watch going forward.
