In this video from bygone Britain, a few lads discuss the tribal and rough reality of growing up in Glasgow.

The Glaswegian accent is a distinct hybrid of West-Central Scots, Scottish English, and heavy 19th/20th-century immigrant influences (particularly from Ireland and the Scottish Highlands). I for one find the Scottish accent very comforting (whichever region it's from).

What you have “came across” is my opinion and mine alone.

The war in Ukraine affects even myself being British - to which my response is justified.

You don’t know anything about me and have criticised my “formal university education”.
I have been educated in critical thinking, so that I make my own judgement on current events etc.

Scotland is the drug death capital of Europe.

On comparable drug-poisoning measures, Scotland’s rate is ~2.4× England’s (~216 vs ~91 per million). Drug deaths are ~12× higher in Scotland’s most versus least deprived areas, with male deaths more than twice as likely than female deaths according to National Records of Scotland (NRS) 2024.

Glasgow and Dundee have consistently been Scotland’s worst-affected areas, with age-standardised drug misuse death rates of ~41.1 and ~35.6 per 100,000, respectively (2020–24).

Both have high levels of deprivation: According to the Scottish Index of Multiple Deprivation (SIMD) ~44% of Glasgow’s population and ~37% of Dundee’s live in Scotland’s top 20% most deprived areas.

In Dundee the highest drug death rates occur in highly deprived areas such as the Hilltown, Lochee and parts of the East End.

Scotland’s substance abuse and drug death crisis needs to be addressed as a matter of urgency.

Alternatively, we can simply keep both the Chagos Islands and the Falkland Islands - that is the painfully obvious solution.

Sucking up to the Americans will solve nothing. The grovelling just won’t work. We need a British Government with the balls to look after our own.
