@jamesrbuk Also, return fares were cancelled in wake of £2 cap. Eg what used to be £3.80 return fare in Lancaster became effectively £4 return fare (two singles) - will presumably now be £6 return fare…
@Philip_Goff Firmly fixed in my memory because for some time I doubted myself talking about hat-tricks. Philosophy’s gain is football’s loss. Durham (Chester-le-Street) is a lovely place to watch cricket…
@Philip_Goff We once had a disagreement about whether you had scored a hat-trick or not. You insisted you had not, because a hat-trick needed to be three in a row. You were thinking about cricket, but I did not know that then. I suspect you would prefer the cricket; I’ll take you one day.
@IanDunt 'this slice of the vast universe covers a patch of sky approximately the size of a grain of sand held at arm’s length by someone on the ground.'
@BBCNewsnight@ConorBurnsUK It doesn’t matter whether it was a ‘party’ or not - the law wasn’t to stop people having fun, it was about limiting non essential proximity to other people.
@andrew_lilico Except that by the point he gave the answer in the commons it’s inconceivable given events that he and his advisors hadn’t given further thought/sought legal advice as to what might constitute a breach of the law. Did they or the Met misinterpret the law they made themselves?
@chrisshipitv@shawmind_ Just before it gets retweeted a lot, to note that the original tweet says 'a leading cause of death', not 'the world's leading cause of death'. No less important for that.
