So. The Dial of Destiny. The film-making is sometimes wonky. The storytelling often inelegant. There are moments when you sense the film getting away from Mangold. But there are some lovely ideas and it is, in the end, just about worth it. I had a tear in my eye by the end.

And if you want to save cinema in Watford specifically (home of Leavesden Studios!) give me a million or two in start-up capital so I can build a community-led indie cinema when Cineworld inevitably closes their Watford site down as part of the administration!

@NeilRamjee Every now and again I dig out all the material and start putting sums together, and at a certain point it breaks my brain how expensive everything is. Would need some kind of subsidy to happen, I think.

@NeilRamjee Yeah I’m worried. On a personal note, having no cinema at all in Watford town centre would be extremely frustrating. Wish I had the money/time/clout to put together a pitch for a community-focussed indie two-screener in one of the empty lots here. That’s the dream.

@NeilRamjee scared for Watford to tbh!); (2) the more busy/profitable Cineworlds staying open as part of a much smaller business; (3) Picturehouses being sold off entirely and run as its own thing. But who knows! Scary times for the biz.
