First of all, I’m not trying to defend anybody, but I refuse to accept statistics simply because they support a narrative people desperately want to push.
TuneStats cannot be the only source we rely on to judge the performance of a major concert in our industry. If you’re going to publish figures that could influence how people perceive an artist’s success or failure, then you owe the public a clear explanation of where those figures came from and how they were obtained.
@TuneStats, you weren’t part of the event’s organising team, so help us understand the process behind these numbers. Tagging @TouringData as your source doesn’t automatically answer every question. What specific data did they use? Was it obtained directly from the ticketing platforms or the organisers? Is this a verified final sales report or an estimate? How was the figure of 6,653 tickets arrived at, and does it represent the actual capacity configured for the show?
These are legitimate questions. Anyone can post numbers, but when those numbers are used to judge an artist’s performance, there should be enough transparency for people to examine and verify them.
How exactly are we supposed to distinguish verified figures from potentially inaccurate or incomplete data if the methodology isn’t made clear?
You might think you’re simply reporting statistics, but you need to understand that publishing figures without sufficient context can do more damage to Ghana’s music industry than you realise. People will use these numbers to ridicule artists, discredit their achievements and discourage others from investing in our industry.
I’m not asking you to inflate Stonebwoy’s numbers or manufacture a success story for him. If he underperformed, the facts should speak for themselves. But if you’re going to put numbers out there, give us enough information to understand and verify them.
@TuneStats, we’re asking for evidence, not excuses. Show us the methodology behind these figures and let the public judge the data for themselves.
