@KieranDocherty That's a hell of a bland ensemble. Like Oceans 11 but with a cast that thinks they're on Love Island but are actually a lineup from Crimewatch. But less entertaining.
@garydunion @kat_cary @Sinead1988 "We can't impose hazardous fumes on sick people and kids, we can't advertise addictive and harmful substances to children but ALSO we can't persecute people in crisis rather than offering help. Shocking."
Some priorities these folk.
@mkhardywrites Aye, I know that. It might just be a gap in my awareness, but it feels like YA used to be somewhat speculative stuff appealing to or with YA protags & those 2 were picked for the romance to suit movies & that pulled the developing genre after it? Like it's more ubiquitous now?
@mkhardywrites I see Interview... as more of a romance the older I get, but Rice has been vehement that wasn't the intention anr its an illegitimate reading. A million millenial queer goths disagree however. Lol.
@mkhardywrites I feel like YA wasn't really a thing, or not so codified when we were kids and what it's become has been shaped a lot by the influence/needs of movies (Twilight, Hunger Games) etc. Books want a cool story and interesting characters. Movies want pretty people to make out.
