I had the privilege to attend a special screening of @novapbs’s “Star Chasers of Senegal” film, hosted by President @Macky_Sall. It celebrated Senegalese astronomy, with over 2,000 people in attendance–including young women invited to encourage their futures in the sciences.

The President awarded me and the film’s team with the Order National Du Lion du Senegal for highlighting contemporary Senegalese astronomy and the long history of Islamic scholars’ contributions to astronomy–a humbling and unexpected honor.
