A thread on the annual @TeacherTapp board marker showdown.
I’m a fierce #TeamBullet advocate. I’ve just seen this week’s blog saying Chisel Tip is on a seven year winning streak. I beg to differ.
@heymrshallahan Thank goodness! Don’t mess with the board marker supremacy. It’s more controversial than silent corridors or knowledge vs skills. Team Bullet Tip forever!
@TeacherTapp I mean, I know there are more important things than board marker tips in the world. But I am heavily invested in this. And I demand that @TeacherTapp sets the record straight on behalf of all Bullet Tip advocates everywhere!
@TeacherTapp I can barely cope with the fact that Team Chisel Tip has won in 2024 (a travesty). But for @TeacherTapp to ascribe these philistines a seven-year dominance? This cannot stand.
If you want to help us give children the best start in life and deliver our mission to break down barriers to opportunity, then get into teaching 👇🏻

In this new parliament there are now as many state educated Sacred Heart Girls as there are old Etonian boys.
I’m proud to be an Education Minister in a Labour Government that better reflects the country and that will focus on breaking down the barriers to opportunity for all.
🚨 NEW: I've just announced a pause and review of the defunding of BTECs
By doing so, we will:
✅ Support BTEC students
✅ Commit to roll out T-Levels
✅ Conclude the review by the end of the year

📢 "The key thing for me this evening was hearing about that desire to work collaboratively, to cooperate, to listen to the profession & together we can make a difference for young people" Hear from the teaching profession as @bphillipsonMP welcomed stakeholders @educationgovuk
@RealGeoffBarton@TheRSC@oracycommission@NationalTheatre One of the best school trips I ever did (as a student!) was a backstage tour of the National. So inspiring. I ended up leading lighting tech on a dozen school productions!
We’re resetting the relationship between the government and teachers, so we can be partners in the push for better once again.
No more silly games. We will treat the workforce, and their trade unions, with the dignity and respect they deserve.
Opportunity should be for all – not just a lucky few.
That’s why education is at the heart of the change this Labour government will make and will be at the forefront of national life once more.
Let’s get to work.
A privilege to welcome @bphillipsonMP as the new Secretary of State for Education today, and to hear her talk so passionately about opportunity and public service.
Congratulations to @bphillipsonMP on being appointed Education Secretary. ASCL looks forward to working with you positively and collaboratively on behalf of all children and young people.
