The grit and tenacity it takes to go immediately into a four week runoff after a general election GOTV is so god damn admirable. Georgia organizers really deserve everything.
Gen-Z is quickly becoming one of the Democratic party’s most reliable constituencies. Year-round Organizing with young people and not being afraid to talk about the bold change we need will keep this trend moving in the right direction.
My life is about to drastically change and all I can think about is the fact that I might be able to finally afford health insurance in America. It’s the little things.
I will repeat this as long as I have to, when the Supreme Court said in 1937 that the Social Security Act was “unconstitutional”, FDR didn’t ask people to vote harder in the next election, he told the Court he’d add more justices until they backed off, which they did.
Clarence Thomas just said the court should now go after gay marriage, birth control, and the basic right to privacy. Notably absent: interracial marriage.
Confirmation hearing statements on Roe:
Roberts: “settled as a precedent of the court”
Gorsuch: “a good judge will consider it as precedent”
Kavanaugh: “an important precedent”
Barrett “so well settled that no political actors and no people seriously push for their overruling”
Overturning Roe and outlawing abortions will never make them go away.
It only makes them more dangerous, especially for the poor + marginalized.
People will die because of this decision. And we will never stop until abortion rights are restored in the United States of America.
Six unelected individuals just denied women all over America the right to make their own health care decisions.
They did so after swearing to respect the Court’s decision in Roe.
Congress must fight this in every way we can. Or this Court will return us to the Stone Age.
If this was about babies, there would be universal healthcare. Free education. Free daycare. Southern states would be doing all they can to drop the Black maternal mortality rate. This is about power and control
Reminders:
— Safe abortions will still be sought and had by conservative white women and privately encouraged by conservative white men
— Unsafe abortions will still be sought by desperate marginalized people with horrific consequences, leading to needless death and suffering
Clarence Thomas writes, in a concurring opinion, that the Supreme Court should reconsider Griswold, Lawrence, and Obergefell — the rulings that now protect contraception, same-sex relationships, and same-sex marriage.
The #RoeVsWade decision does not reflect the needs or the opinion of the American people.
It reflects the oppressive belief system of a small minority of people who have too much power.
The final paragraph of the three liberals' Dobbs dissent:
"With sorrow—for this Court, but more, for the many millions of American women who have today lost a fundamental constitutional protection—we dissent. "
The Republican Party has spent a lot of years designing a government that cannot respond to the majoritarian views of the American people. That’s the whole point.
UPDATE: Got a call from the Press Secretary for the Florida Department of Education, Cassandra Palelis, who told me this tweet was "very misleading."
We had a nice chat.

Let’s be clear: Abortion is still legal. As of today, it remains your constitutional right.
Join us today across Florida to make it clear: Floridians oppose abortion bans.
