@IsabelMestres, CEO @CCan_org in her remarks emphasised that in order to move the needle, improving policies that address cancer care, GO LOCAL . Cities are able to identify gaps in cancer care and bring together the relevant stakeholders. It will take an entire ecosystem, working together and putting in place frameworks that can be implemented at the local level.
When working with cities, setting up a governance group is often the first step and then localise #cancer control plans and programmes.

The inaugural City Executive Committee Meeting for the City Cancer Challenge @CCan_Org took place in #Abuja yesterday.

The @CCan_Org supports cities worldwide to ensure access to quality cancer care. Abuja joined the City Cancer Challenge network in May 2023, with an MoU signed by a consortium including FCT Administration, @FMoHNigeria, @CHAI_health and @MedicaidcfP

It was an opportunity to bring together local stakeholders, healthcare professionals, CSOs, influencers from the private and public sector and government officials to move forward on preparations for the city-wide assessment, identifying gaps in cancer care as well as discussions on the implementation of the @CCan_Org initiative.

Now that the momentum has been built, it is commendable to have such a committed group of stakeholders working collectively to improve the patient journey when seeking cancer care. Strengthening partnership for cancer control in Nigeria is essential for ensuring equitable and comprehensive cancer care access across Nigerian cities and the wider country.
