My New Year’s resolution for 2022 is to buy something for myself with a bit of each paycheck for no reason other than just wanting it. The goal is to stop feeling guilty/worried every time I spend money. Documenting this on a thread to see if I actually keep it up.
A friend told me they saw someone post that they were simultaneously “I’m tired of this, Grandpa!” and “That’s too damn bad!” …and I’ve never related to something more in my life.
Working on a conference proposal with 2 colleagues. Their bios include “over 30 years of experience in P-20 education” & “over 20 years in higher education in both student affairs and teaching roles”… I’m barely starting year 7 of my career and feel so underqualified right now.
Shoutout to the type of friends that make you want to drop whatever you’re doing to run after them and say bye when they try to leave without saying anything 🫶🏽
What I learned from sticking to this New Year’s resolution:
1) I shouldn’t feel buyer’s remorse for major purchases.
2) Saving money is cool but only useful if I’m actually saving for something.
3) It’s okay to buy things that I don’t “need” because I work hard to earn my money.

Someone with LinkedIn Premium keeps lurking on my profile every few days… or maybe the views are coming from different people? Either way, quit playing games and just tell me about the job opportunity!
Won my first ever eBay auction this afternoon! Had high levels of adrenaline and anxiety because there was a bidding war during the last couple of minutes, but I was able to put in the final bid for the win!
One of my favorite things to do when I’m feeling overwhelmed by what I need to get done is ignore those tasks and instead do other things that can most definitely wait… then just feel 10x more overwhelmed later. I am the reason for future me’s problems.
