This is incredibly common across all sports and is only getting worse.
We have a generation of athletes generally who have simply free played less and haven’t learned the game they “play” by actually playing the game. They’ve learned it through a coaching curriculum. They’ve had to earn the right to play the game with technical “mastery” first.
In a Gaelic Football context what I see all the time is defenders running away from goal as an attacker runs at goal. It’s really bizarre. The clever man marked forwards are picking up on it too and are just getting out of the way, because at least one defender will follow them anywhere. Instead of understanding where the danger is. So many defenders have no eyes on the ball whatsoever now.
Wirtz like most of his contemporaries have grown up doing Rondo’s in over sanitised academy’s. He most likely suited a Alonso team because it was pretty strict positional game where you are playing a very specific role in a very specific part of the pitch. As an example or thought, he probably be killing it if he was with Spurs right now, cos of De Zerbi. Where Ireola seems to be allowing more space for players to think and make their own decisions. That could take 1-3 seasons to adjust. That’s the reality.
Just watch this, honestly
Stick your inverted wingers, false 9s. Snowflakes, match vloggers up your ass.
This is proper football, proper men, proper battle. Oh & the Sharpy Shuffle ❤️
Take me back!

Again, Paul Merson is correct in everything he said here. The majority of the media aren’t holding back now. Anyone who tries to justify Man City’s cheating or defends it with the ‘they won it on the pitch’ narrative is embarrassing themselves as a pundit.
Carragher knows he’s a fake and a fraud.
Neville loves it because he’s thinking of the clicks whilst Carragher is fuming he has to sit at the same table as him.
Says everything.
body language is such a lost medium. movies are way to dependent on dialogue to move the story along anymore.
if this was made today, each actor would’ve had a zing one-liner to spoonfeed the audience what was happening in this moment.
This is dangerous ground for Labour.
There are far more people who care about football clubs that are not Man City than care about Labour.
If City get off easy, and Labour are seen to have meddled, it's going to do them serious damage.
Establishment arrogance & incompetence at its very worst. BM chairman George Osborne should have the guts to invite everyone treated so horrendously in this way to a similar big party/dinner and apologise to them face-to-face one by one. Or resign.
Every player in England is PAYE.
A payslip at the end of the month with national insurance, tax payable, gross amount etc etc. Just like any other PAYE worker in this country.
"Famous" players can have an image rights contract. But as Portsmouth found out when giving them out, HMRC said "this player wouldn't be known outside his front door so he's no image to sell ". So if you're a household name, you sell your image rights to the club as a seperate contract. Tax rates for this are different than PAYE and image rights deals are abolished anyway from next year.
I'll put the alleged Mancini 2 contracts in layman's terms.
His City managers contract is PAYE which HMRC can then calculate his liabilities like we all have.
But the allegation is that he had an Abu Dhabi 4 appearance contract which was more than his City contract and was a disguised salary in reality.
So his £1.4m a year City manager contract and £1.6m 4 appearance contract should really have been...
A Manchester City manager contract of £3m a year. No disguised salary as 4 TV appearances, just good old honest "here's your £3m a year, HMRC will do the rest ".
By allegedly disguising over half his salary from HMRC, @DanNeidle suggests he has a tax liability of £12m. A criminal offence.
Do I believe there are some sportsmen around the world doing this on £250kpw upwards a week, with £250kpw sitting in a bank account or offshore account far far away?
Yes. A lot. Hundreds.
Are HMRC aware? Yes, but I believe they are understaffed and other countries do not play ball with them when they investigate.
So could the Mancini alleged double contract/hiding huge chunks of salary elsewhere be commonplace?
I believe it to be widespread. Rampant. Industrial.
1. This bullshit narrative that Abu Dhabi “invested in Manchester” out of some extraordinary civic generosity needs binning.
Manchester Life for Mansour & Co was a commercial property venture. It was NOT charity or their “love” of Manchester.
One in four pensioners are in millionaire households. One in eight are higher rate tax payers. They are the wealthiest generation by far and have seen their wealth increase far faster than any other age group. The poorest in society? Sharon Graham is talking complete nonsense.
Hello @LucyMPowell
As MP for Mcr Central which includes Wastelands, is there anything you'd like to share about your little visit to Abu Dhabi & your role cheerleading for @ManCity's corrupt owners in the UAE APPG 👇
Or do we have to wait for it all to come out in the wash?
