Effective teachers don't focus so much on rules, but on routines, procedures and expectations. If you focus on rules, you will spend most of the year enforcing them. But if you focus on routines, procedures, and expectations, you rarely have to defer back to the rules.
Day 5 of @IMSEOG Orton Gillingham training complete. I'm blown away by the OG approach and I'm left feeling inspired and empowered! Thank you @JodiMulholland for supporting growth.
Museum "walk" using descriptive adjectives to let our classmates know all of their fantastic qualities! S. Didnt want to end our virtual lesson- that's how you know you're doing something right! Foster social emotional learning, while using technology to drive instruction.
I donโt think teachers will be remembered primarily for their lessons. I think they will be remembered for their energy... and their attitude... and their relationships.
Lessons are important... but they donโt tell the entire story. The legacy of a teacher is more than that.
Amazing. In only 6 months, and having taught no students online herself, @JSerravallo has nevertheless managed to come up with the strategies actual teachers should use during this pandemic - and for only $30!
What a bargain.
@heinemannPub - They're unstoppable.
I made breakout room choice doors where Ss will "go" to during their work time. We're using Google Meet & I plan to link different Meet links to each ๐ชso Ss can collaborate, work alone, or get extra help. Honoring differences & personalizing instruction!

Drawing what you're learning deepens understanding, and that won't change during distance learning. Have students draw -> take photos -> submit via email, your LMS, or your preferred tech tool. A piece I worked on some time ago forย @edutopia.
New metaanalyses (reviews of multiple studies) confirm that substantive feedback WITHOUT GRADES is preferable for student motivation & achievement. Grades were worse than nothing at all re motivation to learn, w/most damage to struggling & older students: https://t.co/yiKyKUkCi0
โ The child who is not embraced by the village, will burn it down to feel its warmth.โ ~African proverb #HackingSchoolDiscipline#AMLEsel Either way, we give our time.
Couldn't resist jumping on the, bitmoji classroom, bandwagon! A fun way to have young students access websites through an interactive classroom. #BitmojiClassroom
