@AmericaRecharge Should have had the wisdom to know it was a conflict of interest. It's either corruption or poor judgement. Either excludes him from public office. Or should.
@trussliz I've got a lot of time for you and your views but it was your govt's responsibility to be in dialogue with the BoE. Especially as you knew they were hostile. Especially before a budget.
@Nigel_Farage@reformparty_uk Labour would have been better advised to grin and bear it until closer to the end of the term and then take advantage of a Burnham bounce. Unless he calls a snap election, the honeymoon will be well an truely over by the time that comes around, or the coming financial crisis does
While it's great to be rid of a tin-eared, two-tiered, authoritarian automaton in the office of Prime Minister; as a bonus, the prospect of some appalling incompetents in the cabinet exiting, we face the prospect of worse to come. 😬
@TRobinsonNewEra This illustrates how embedded that this sort of misguided thinking is in the country. The depth and breath of the cultural change required is daunting but must be done. Merit is the one and only thing that should be considered in any appointment.
📣🚨 FSU Victory!!
The Free Speech Union has just heard from South Wales Police that it has withdrawn its guidance on “anti-Muslim hostility”.
The force had effectively adopted its own Islamic blasphemy law, instructing officers to record any conversation that went beyond “legitimate” discussion of Islam.
Under this guidance, criticism of Islam could have been recorded as an anti-social behaviour incident and potentially appeared on DBS checks, affecting someone’s ability to work as a teacher, carer, or in other regulated professions.
South Wales Police has backed down because the Free Speech Union threatened them with a judicial review if it chose to press ahead with the policy.
The force has described this move as a “pause” to the guidance — but we think it is highly unlikely to return.
We must also thank Shadow Equalities Minister @ClaireCoutinho for referring South Wales Police to the Equality and Human Rights Commission after we brought this issue to her attention.
Blasphemy laws were abolished by Parliament 18 years ago. We must not allow them to return through the back door.
Let this be a warning to any other public body — particularly police forces — considering the adoption of its own blasphemy laws.

@ukJ0N@ZiaYusufUK No one has mentioned how the introduction and implementation of this unequal treatment, directly contradicts the constable's oath, taken when they are awarded that office.
📣🚨 New FSU Briefing: With Fear and Favour: Britain’s Policing Emergency
Since the Free Speech Union was founded six years ago, we have consistently raised the alarm about the ideological capture of policing.
Today, the FSU has published a new briefing by our Director of Policy and Research, @DavidRoseUK, examining what has gone wrong with British policing, with a foreword by Rick Prior, former Chair of the Metropolitan Police Federation.
Since the 1999 Macpherson Report, identity-based groups claiming to represent different minorities have acquired disproportionate influence over policing in this country. The ideological capture of the College of Policing and the National Police Chiefs’ Council (NPCC) accelerated in the wake of Black Lives Matter.
In an attempt to avoid appearing “institutionally racist”, the police have swung so far in the opposite direction that they now discriminate against white people, particularly white working-class men.
Correcting this over-correction is now a matter of critical national importance. Unless it is addressed, the British public will lose confidence in the police, and policing by consent will begin to break down. This is a national emergency.
There is no evidence that the police were institutionally racist in the first place. Yet a review of the training programmes and policies adopted by forces across the country, at the direction of the College of Policing and the NPCC, reveals anti-white racism in abundance.
This is a national emergency that must be addressed.

@LibDems@JoshBabarinde This shows the lack of willingness or ability to recognise or accept the reality that division has been sewn. The result of decades of inequality of treatment and of opportunity. Firstly to the detriment of non indigenous Brits, now to the detriment of indigenous Brits.
@ZiaYusufUK@reformparty_uk From the constable's attestation: "with fairness, integrity, diligence and impartiality, upholding fundamental human rights and according equal respect to all people;" That's all you need. Why are they breaking it routinely?
@ZiaYusufUK@reformparty_uk No one would dream that could happen. How did we get into this state as a nation? So sad. I hope reform can change the culture of the country. Big ask.
@reformparty_uk Obviously, people's regular contracted hours will fall dramatically and the majority of the time they work will then be 'overtime'. Scrap income tax all together, it was only a 'temporary' tax in any case. Don't be another government that tinkers and meddles for votes.
@PlanetOfMemes@profstonge Yes. My phrase for it is electoral moral hazard. It's a product of universal suffrage. Only net contributors to society should have a vote
@Mofoman360 Potentially our greatest, although Thatcher will take some surpassing. Everything depends on defeating the civil service and the quangos, a Herculean task. One thing is for sure, vocal unpopularity from a large minority is guaranteed. But he's used to that.
