First they came for those in care homes. .
Now they’re coming for those shielding
If this applies to you, do not listen to a Government who see you as disposable collateral damage. If you need to, speak to a Dr who knows you for guidance.
But trust yourself
You are valued x
You got it perfectly @DrFrancesRyan. For me it was the staring at cracks in the wall - there are bits of my ceiling that I could describe as if they were a best friend or worst enemy. Plus the fear of ‘nevers’ - “will I never see/feel/smell/hear.taste that again?”
I’ve thought about writing this piece for two years and just got the nerve. In today’s @guardiang2: on falling chronically ill, being in bed for years, and why - if you’re worried about rejoining the world post-lockdown - you aren’t alone. https://t.co/8Os76Wv4OR
Properly blown away to be shortlisted for the @PrivateEyeNews Paul Foot Award 2020 - for my @guardian campaign Britain’s Disability Scandal. https://t.co/DXixmDtiR8
BREAKING: 2.2 million high risk people who’ve been shielding can go outside for first time on Monday.
Either with members of household, or if they live alone to meet 1 person.
This announcement has come out of the blue, even for disability orgs. I’ll be chasing details.
We’ve worked really hard with our partner @UniAtypical to get this fund turned around in less than weeks, so that our D/deaf and disabled artists can get support quickly. We hope this new fund will have a significant, positive impact during this difficult time.
Many egs of innovation from arts sector to meet challenges of lockdown. Great to hear @DUPleader ref this. But these innovations don’t replace huge income losses the sector is experiencing. The arts are tangible emotionally and economically and government intervention is needed.
2nd round of Bread & Butter Fund in NI closed within 45 minutes bc of too many applications. A damning indictment of the collective failure of @RishiSunak@DUPleader@moneillsf@DeirdreHargey to support thousands of freelance workers in arts & CCI.
Stopped in my tracks. I couldn’t be sadder to read this beautiful tribute to Phillip Zarrilli by his life and art companion, @kaiteoreilly. Lighting a candle for you tonight.
.@ArtsCouncilNI & @UniAtypical are delighted to announce a new fund specifically for D/deaf & disabled artists in response to COVID-19. 25 grants of up to £1,000 each are available for artists of all disciplines, in order to support their practice https://t.co/BIUnNxVsmA
“Shut behind closed doors in more ways than one, disabled people are all too easy to forget. Just look how we still don’t know how many have died in care homes; their deaths are written out of the stories we’re using to make sense of this crisis.” > My col https://t.co/GhPvJf1YGk
District Nurse Liz McCormick from @setrust has joined colleagues in a local care home to support them during #COVID19. Here Liz explains why she stepped forward.
