we are hyped to be featured in @RollingStone highlighting the human side of clean energy! ☀️
while the sustainability benefits of solar + wind energy for planet earth are more often reported, press often overlook another sustainability perk: how clean energy can create more equitable power paradigms between humans 🧍♂️🧍♀️🧍
thanks to @MelissaRowley for thoughtfully capturing this story of equity and optimism in an often bleak media landscape, and @DER_Task_Force for being our BFFs on this solar journey
while we’re still figuring things out, we’re excited to keep exploring how creatives and communities can simultaneously contribute to and benefit from the new power structures that clean energy has the potential to create🔋
Also extra high-fives to @notionofanguish @modelactriz @psymonspine for participating in our first community microgrid-to-concert test in Brooklyn with @DER_Task_Force !
🌏 Sometimes climate doomerism can take a toll on our psyche. As an act of climate optimism, SOLARPUNKS joined forces with @DER_Task_Force and @stereogum to throw Brooklyn’s First Solar-Powered Concert on Saturday to show that decarbonization is happening faster than we think.
🌞 We wanted to show the viability of running a full concert production fully on the power of the sun (no diesel generators or fuel) while also tapping into the decentralized power of community microgrids. While there are larger productions running fully on battery now (woohoo!), they are typically powered by diesel given our current fossil fuel paradigm.
🔋 Learn more about this proof-of-concept for mobile battery energy storage systems (mBESS) and community-owned clean energy generation in the link below!
🔌 Special thanks to @SunbeltRentals@sustainable914@hopehydration, and Pond Creative for their in-kind support!
🎸 Shouts to the artists who entrusted us to run their production fully on clean electrons with no diesel generator back-ups: @notionofanguish , @graceives4u , @modelactriz and @psymonspine !

What else, besides raves powered by pick-up trucks, does our future hold? @emilypont reports on DERVOS "the hottest ticket in Brooklyn last week," which brought together a group of "irreverent punks" to discuss the potential of distributed energy resources https://t.co/S1KKLUPOLf
Got a little shout for our "vehicle-2-rave" application with @DER_Task_Force in @heatmap_news by @emilypont today 🚛☀️🪩
Here's to all the other climate optimists out there building creative solutions for systems-level decarbonization!

Introducing “Vehicle-2-Rave” (V2R) this Thursday in NY at the afterparty for Dervos from
@SOLARPUNKSCLUB + @DER_Task_Force
Why? Because solar-powered off-grid beats just hit harder, y'all.

In an effort to ditch gas generators, we built the largest solar microgrid at @burningman (48 kW solar array + 233 kWh battery storage) and powered our festivities with the sun. Check out our learnings and energy report at https://t.co/TWc1jqH4QN! 🔋☀️ #Solarpunk
