What the CBRC essentially said is that you can’t just drop 17% of votes cast and say, "whoops, system error let’s move on". In what world do we think that is democratic. This was the issue. Full stop.

This is an important step. Lasting peace can never be achieved if one party is forced to live under pseudo occupation. High-level week this year will be something to see.

Consistent with its historic commitment to a just and lasting peace in the Middle East, I have decided that France will recognize the State of Palestine.

I will make this solemn announcement before the United Nations General Assembly this coming September.

The urgent priority today is to end the war in Gaza and to bring relief to the civilian population.

Peace is possible.

We need an immediate ceasefire, the release of all hostages, and massive humanitarian aid for the people of Gaza. We must also ensure the demilitarization of Hamas, secure and rebuild Gaza. And finally, we must build the State of Palestine, guarantee its viability, and ensure that by accepting its demilitarization and fully recognizing Israel, it contributes to the security of all in the region.

There is no alternative.

The French people want peace in the Middle East. It is our responsibility — as French citizens, alongside Israelis, Palestinians, and our European and international partners — to prove that peace is possible.

In light of the commitments made to me by the President of the Palestinian Authority, I have written to him to express my determination to move forward.

Trust, clarity, and resolve.

We will achieve peace.

@NickKruse_ I agree with you on that. Once we have a nominee we need to dive in. Solidarity is importantly, otherwise it’s democrats in disarray.

@ayana_joy_ From what I understand, the concern is with the stated platform goals of the National DSA org. I think the cliff notes is between party positions centered around reform the system vs tear it all down. I’m not an expert, I haven’t dived deep, still listening and learning.

@BrianaRoseLee I atrongly advocate for the right of employees to unionize if that is what they want. But I also know of instances where that isn’t needed nor wanted.

@BrianaRoseLee Genuine question as I’m combing this broader conversation. As the DFL, are we not supporting small businesses that don’t need a union? What about businesses where the owners have a strong commitment to generous compensation? Where is the line?
