A new species of marine mollusk has been named after the 40-year-old by Spanish researcher Jesus Ortea.

Ortea made the discovery of the new species — a small sea slug of red appearance and about four millimeters that was, until his published work, unknown by science — and has named it Aldisa vozinhai (in English, Vozinha’s sea slug).

Israel assassinated Mohammad al-Wahidi, the manager of the Egyptian Relief Committee in Gaza.

في عام 2002، وقبل زمن الفيسبوك وضجيج الميديا، أُقيمت مباراة ودية جمعت المنتخب الفلسطيني بمنتخب نجوم العرب دعماً للرياضة الفلسطينية في ذروة الانتفاضة الثانية..

شارك حسام حسن مع منتخب نجوم العرب في الشوط الأول، لكنه في الشوط الثاني اختار أن يرتدي قميص فلسطين، حتى في مباراة استعراضية لا تحمل كأساً ولا نقاطاً، عز عليه أن يكون خصماً لفلسطين.

تقديرًا لهذا الموقف، استقبله قائد منتخب فلسطين صائب جندية بمنحه شارة قيادة المنتخب لحظة دخوله إلى أرض الملعب، في مشهد سيبقى حاضراً في الذاكرة والتاريخ أبداً..

واليوم وبعد ما يقارب ربع قرن على هذا الحدث، يقود حسام حسن منتخب مصر في البطولة الأكبر عالمياً، وبينما تتجه إليه أنظار العالم، لا ينسى أن تكون فلسطين حاضرة في كلماته ومواقفه، كما كانت دائماً.

الرجل الذي اختار فلسطين يوم لم تكن الكاميرات تلاحقه، بقي على العهد حين أصبحت كل كاميرات العالم مصوبة نحوه.

محظوظة فلسطين بهذه الجارة العظيمة، ومحظوظة برجال أوفياء مثل حسام حسن ومحمد أبو تريكة، الذين أثبتوا أن المبادئ لا تصنعها الأضواء، بل تكشفها.

On the one hand this World Cup has been amazing. Smaller teams playing incredibly, more teams, more matches. On the other hand the corruption is so blatant and so in your face it becomes hard to appreciate the beauty of the tournament.
