An unborn child does not become human by passing through developmental milestones.

The child develops because the child is already human.

Embryo → fetus → newborn → infant → child → adult.

These describe stages in the life of the same human being.

Some argue that the unborn is like a 'parasite' feeding off the mother, or an 'aggressor' the body has a right to defend against, framing pregnancy in terms of invasion or threat.

A parasite is a different species that invades a host and gives nothing back. That's not what's happening here. The unborn shares the same species as the mother, and exists because of the body's own natural reproductive process, not an invasion from outside. Calling it an "aggressor" requires actual hostile intent or action. An embryo isn't attacking anyone. It's simply present at the exact stage and place it's biologically supposed to be at that point in development. If anything, the language of "parasite" and "aggressor" tells us more about how uncomfortable the reality is to sit with than it does about the biology itself.
