I am not seeing this case receive anywhere near the same media coverage as the Cornell 7 despite the situations being extremely similar. This is why I have said we cannot pick and choose what cases make us outraged. All victims deserve justice and deserves the same amount of support.
Detroit People’s Food Co-op is asking the community for help.
The Black-led, community-owned grocery store has launched a fundraising campaign, is pushing to add members, & is making operational changes as it confronts cash-flow problems & rising costs. https://t.co/EMcmlo6ZD1
this female juror in particular is so gross to me. just shelling out interview after interview. imagine trying to collect your 15 minutes of fame off the backs of three dead kids.
Huey P. Newton said, “I do not expect the white media to create positive Black male images.” A white woman strangled her three children to death, and yet the lone Black male juror who refused to acquit her is now being cast as the problem. She is given context, sympathy, illness, and complexity. He is given suspicion.
She committed the violence, but he becomes the villain for refusing to excuse it.
Here’s something Black folks have long understood, in the United States a Black man does not need to commit violence to be treated violently.
