@SamaHoole I was a milkman, so was my father and so was my grandfather. One of the biggest causes of decline was the withdrawal of the Welfare Milk tokens. One pint a day for each child. We also lost the contract for the school milk delivery when it was cut by Mrs Thatcher.
@SommePhantom@TheBarracuda78 To me executed implies that the members of SS Totenkopf who committed these murders are not wholly responsible for their actions on that day
@Neuroscope_mp Presumably there is a lot of data available about metformin users. Have they made any studies about the incidence of MS in diabetes sufferers? Is it worse, better or the same as the general population?
A study worth making?
@Artemisapphire Why do people always assume that living on benefits is a lifestyle choice. In my experience it’s a most precarious existence, things like a washing machine breaking down become major crisis. No politician has ever managed to exist on benefits despite all the publicity stunts
@robert_lyman Only thing wrong with the Dyle move was the catastrophic Breda option. Army group B deserves much more credit than it gets for breaking Belgian and Dutch forces. The command of 2nd Army at Sedan was inept. The failure of XXI Corps counterattack was decisive
@history_dame I was lucky enough to get a place at grammar school. I had TB as a child and so was excused all games. So I spent a lot of time in the library. Hours reading G.M.Trevelyan and W.S.Churchill plus History today which introduced me to John Terraine
@robert_lyman I agree support for Russia was critically important but it may be argued that the RAF retained too much of its strength in the UK. How many 2 Group bombers lost in daylight over Europe? How many spitfires wasted? Over 1500 bomber command aircraft lost in 41.
@CharlesEsdaile Russia will use them to relieve troops in “quiet “ sectors. Too much negative publicity otherwise. The soldiers will be tough and brave but have zero combat experience.
@Artemisapphire No, I agree the numbers look bad but the fundamentals are that Russia is resource rich and the world wants what they have. So sanctions are mitigated. How else have they kept the war going? No end in sight I’m afraid
@Artemisapphire we shouldn’t assume that the Russians and Iranians don’t understand their weakness. They will continue to forment trouble . Sanctions are ineffective at present. Finally we have no workable model to replace these states if they implode
