I won’t go into the detail about “why”, but I’ve just spent three hours in Coorparoo McDonalds. The staff do an amazing job keeping it clean. FYI - the toilet facilities is truly the crowd favourite.
Oh dear, Annerley Road bike lanes aren’t very safe. Sorry for uploading these videos @brisbanecityqld, I wish I didn’t have to but something needs to be done before people get killed. I’ll keep documenting for your research.
@Luci77fer@QldPolice I know gang in blue have too many things to do and peak hour traffic patrols would be the pits but how do I report multiple vehicles queing through intersections and driving through pedestrian crossings daily? It's a regular issue - almost a social norm.
Used my bike as a barricade to stop a car from driving into school kids on the Corner or Gladstone Road and Annerley Road at 0820 this morning (Holden Calais, Rego: CYA 0xx), then a motorcyclist using the bike lane to beat morning traffic. @brisbanecityqld@QldPolice
@QldPolice Many thanks for the response, made numerous policelink reports. There are regular displays of lawlessness on the stretch inbetween Dutton Park cemetery to Children's Hospital from motorists & active transport users. Mon to Fri, mornings. I just want to survive my commute to work.
@SomervilleGirls@brisbanecityqld Holy Moly! Parents picking up students from Somerville House from Graham Street, South Brisbane do not stop for pedestrians! @QldPolice
Dream ride from Yeronga to Southbank this morning, only one vehicle tried to drive into us on Annerley Road, Woolloongabba (35sec). It’s a good day! #brisbane#cycling#commute
Dear @brisbanecityqld, another Monday, more near misses on Annerley Road / Stephen’s Road, Woolloongabba. I’m confused because I thought bike lanes were to keep cyclists safe. Am I missing something? Love to hear your thoughts one day. #brisbane#cycling#safety
Dear @brisbanecityqld, ride with me again down Annerley Road. Note the chaos at Stephens Road due to private school drop off. Let’s cruise to the Stanley St crossing and watch the cars queue through the intersection despite red lights and pedestrian crossings. Great times!
Dear Brisbane Council, ride with me (via video) and enjoy a commute into the city via Annerley Road on the bike lane in the morning peak hour. This is a very normal morning commute. Please pack spare smalls. #brisbanecycling#brisbane#cycling#safety#pantspooper
@brisbanecityqld@QldPolice Annerley Road (South Brisbane), inbound bicycle lanes used motorists as loading zones to disembark passengers (particularly near Mater Hospital), plus motorcyclists using as a short cut. Morning peak hours.
@st_laurences@SomervilleGirls@QldPolice Too many parents turning left into Stephens Road from Annerley Road (South Brisbane) not indicating and almost running over cyclists in bike lane during morning peak hour. The madness must stop!
@CraigProudley Sadly, cycling attracts the unwanted attention of loose units at times. I was relieved to be a witness as opposed to being a participant today. It was such a large commotion involving 40 people (roadworkers, residents and cyclists). It was almost comical.
Brisbane cycling highlight of the day: watching a motorist ignore traffic contollers at roadworks and plough into 3 parked cars due to oncoming traffic. Then blames and starts a shoving match with 20+ peloton of cyclists who weren't even there when it happened.
@dellvink Not that I'm an expert, but I'd suspect from the irrational conversational logic and heightened emotions, my motorist friend had some form of substance in his system. He definitely needed police assistance.
I was playing computer games with my son (networked Minecraft) and he told me that he was hungry. I had to ask him "in real life"? Gaming conversations. We're having lunch now.
There's no such thing as a quick trip the the Queensland Children's Hospital emergency ward (5hrs wait in triage for debridement and stitches), but once the treatment gets rolling the team there shines!
@Translink_QLD Man on train carriage IM7176 leaves bike in train door at South Brisbane Station, approx 4.50pm. Refuses to move it. I climb over it, gently move bike aside for other passengers. Injure my back (I have back issues). Can you access security cam of this incident?
