After testing the waters with my first few 3rd year rotations, I'm excited to get started on my path towards #PMR#physiatry Particularly excited about multidisciplinary care for patients most in need of quality of life improvements
A warm welcome and HUGE congratulations to our five incredible, budding physiatrists!🙌
We are beyond excited for the class of 2028 as they join our UCI PMR family! 🎉

A quick 🧵 on market competition and the cost of applying to residency…
For years, the Association of American Medical Colleges had a near-monopoly on the residency application software market.
And every year, they raised the fees on ERAS.
Just a little.
Every single year.
Today I was asked to write what department I was with. After writing “PM” I suddenly forgot how to draw “&” and almost drew a treble clef?Shamefully went with “PM+R”..

This is my dear friend, Nakita.
Nakita and I were medical school classmates and both interns in New York City. Nakita tragically took her own life on May 26.
She is such a beautiful soul. She was so fun to be around. She was intelligent, charismatic, and confident. (1/x)
The longest running study on happiness:
Harvard's 84 year old Study of Adult Development.
Here are 7 lessons from the study to help you live a happier life:
NEW: I’m not sure people fully appreciate how dire the US life expectancy / mortality situation has got.

And some utterly damning charts.
1) at *every* point on the income distribution, Americans live shorter lives than the English.
Shout out to all the M4s/applicants this week... Disheartening to see the most compassionate and hard working people not match or have to move away after years of sacrifices. Congress thinks school, service, leadership, research, loans are not enough to qualify in helping others?
Great to have been with everyone passionate about making a difference! #Physiatry23 also may need to get my vision checked, I’m squinting hard to read name tags right after someone introduces themselves
On my flight to #Physiatry23 and intercom asks for any doctors who can see someone with possible syncope. Lucky to have two on board cause I’d be sweating until at least two years into residency? Whenever people need more than good H&Ps
Sketchy really lives rent free in my head. I'll be taking step 23 as an attending one day and remember random shiga toxin factoids cause a gorilla wearing a green tutu was shot out of a cannon.
Journal club this month will be held THIS WEDNESDAY and will be #sportsmedicine themed. Clinician expert Dr. Allison Bean is an attending sports medicine physiatrist and assistant professor at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine.
