@AdamCforMD I should say that he responded both to the brutality of slavery and his own values in a congruent manner. My favorite primary source studies that I do in my classroom delve into John Brown’s motivation and legacy. The textbooks have done him injustice over the years.

I mean, implicit bias studies are well documented and would support Perkins’ claim. It’s unsurprising that Redick is now being hailed by alt-right, conservative accounts online. He’s way out of bounds here and should approach this conversation way more respectfully.

I’ve appreciated JJ Redick’s analysis lately, but this ain’t it for a couple reasons:

1. Implicit bias is real and there’s no reason to pretend a white NBA audience is immune to it.

2. Arguing about racism with a black man from Beaumont, Texas on national TV is a bad look.
