Atari never recovered in gaming. Jack Tremiel saved Atari by making personal computers but as an individual console manufacturer Atari limped along until 1996 when they self deleted.

Xbox came in 2001 but has never won a console generation. The 360 was the closest to victory

The video game crash of 1983 happened because Atari, Coleco, & Mattel kept pumping out shovelware, incomplete games, and low effort slop that crashed the console market by 97%, bankrupting the original Atari by 1984.

The crash also surrendered gaming to the Japanese for decades

Nintendo took the rubble in 1983 and by 1989 controlled 85% of the industry. They’re Japanese.

Sega broke their monopoly by 1990, another Japanese gaming firm.

NEC dabbled into gaming with the TurbGrafx-16. Kanye named his album after this console.

As a fan of Halo (gamed on that game on PC mainly but also Xbox), I want the franchise to go to a correct direction again. I loved halo growing up yet 343 has turned it into a slopfest. Make Halo Great Again.

If you told ten year old me that the makers behind Call of Duty would take over Halo, I would’ve called you insane.

Yet here we are in 2026. The gaming industry is become centralized more than ever and fewer and fewer companies exist out there.

On the one hand alot of studios deserved to be shut down after producing multiple garbage projects and the trash of the industry is being properly disposed of

But au contraire the industry is becoming conglomerated and centralized.
