On this #WorldSoilDay, let's remind ourselves of the importance of Saving Soil! Let us not rest until all the children around the world can enjoy food security!
This video made in 2022 by a 7 year old Singaporean child highlights the importance of #SoilForClimateAction. Let's #SaveSoil!

Squatting - a way to strengthen our Spine
In the Yogic system, the spine is referred to as Merudhanda or the axis of our universe. All individual human experience is essentially generated and transmitted through the spine.
The spine is made of 33 individual bones stacked one on top of the other. This spinal column provides the main support for our body. It allows us to stand straight, bend, and twist while protecting the spinal cord from injury.
When stressed, one can notice stiffness in the upper part of the spine or the neck and the lower and lumbar part of the spine. Taking care of these 2 aspects of the spine stiffness is important so that this does not snowball into other serious problems of the spine.
The perception of clarity that we need in our life is largely handled by our spine. Spine is not just a physical substance, it is actually a whole communication network. If it becomes insensitive, the lose is phenomenal. This complex assembly needs to be stretched everyday. If it telescopes one into another, the communication capability in the spine is hugely lost.
A natural upsurge of energy will naturally happen if we keep our feet together and sit down in a squat. It is best to squat keeping the feet together and sit. The next best stance is to keep the feet apart in the same width with the shoulders and squat. One can start with about 7 times and go upto 21 times slowly.
This is a very simple way to relax, activate and exercise the spine; this enhances one’s clarity and in turn one’s intelligence. It brings alertness in the system and lethargy is obliterated.
As the Source material of our making- beloved Soil- weakens across the world, maintaining human physical and mental health can become more challenging. In the coming year, ensure that yourself and those around you stay physically, mentally healthy. Your body and mind, the more you use it, the better it is. Wishing you the very best in the coming year. -Sg #SaveSoil

Can Save Soil really save the world’s soils?
It may seem too monumental a task - but such feats have been accomplished before. A great example is the Montreal Protocol, one of the most successful environmental agreements of all time.
The Montreal Protocol ended one of the biggest threats ever to face humanity as a whole: the depletion of the ozone layer. The ozone layer, a fragile shield of gas, protects the Earth from the harmful portion of the rays of the sun, thus helping preserve life on the planet. This is a shining example of what can be accomplished when we all come together for a common cause.
So, will Save Soil work? Yes - if all of us come together, we can #SaveSoil!

Night thoughts
I believe that man is the only being on this planet that interferes with nature through so-called "development and progress" and simply leaves the leftovers.
The advice from parents in childhood, "When you don't need this anymore, clean it up", has been forgotten.
Forests play a role in local water cycles: Like hardly any other ecosystem, it can store and purify precipitation water. They are natural air conditioning systems and air filters. The cooling effect plays an important role in global warming, filter gases, dust, soot from the air.
Amazon experiencing severe droughts
#Amazon is home to the largest rainforest with 390 billion trees which absorb carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. Unfortunately millions of hectares of Amazon forests are being cut down every year!
Amazon has never experienced such #droughts till recent times. It is the rainmaker of South America, but #deforestation has removed water vapour drastically, contributing to 40% drop in rainfall in Pantanal. Scientists predict that a large part of it will become arid savannah in 20 years.
According to Our Changing Planet, increased wild fires with less rain have destroyed 30% of the Pantanal, killing 17 million animals. Jaguars are severely impacted with more than a quarter of jaguars experiencing habitat loss, injury and food shortage. Jaguar habitats are also impacted by agriculture and cattle ranching in the area.
May all of us raise awareness about Amazon's dire environmental issue so that we can save the important ecosystem of our world.
Monsieur Canfin @pcanfin, s'il vous plait votez pour contribuer à protéger l'habitat des abeilles et redonner vie à nos terres et à nos cours d’eau ; cela va dans le sens de bonnes conditions de vie pour les générations à venir ! 🙏
On World Environment Day, Cauvery Calling kickstarted the mammoth task of planting 11 million saplings across Tamil Nadu this year. Students of Isha Vidhya, Coimbatore also made a commitment to plant 10,000 saplings in this year.
