@Acidic36 @PatMcAfeeShow Rule 9.1.4 provides for this. “Forcible contact” is defined by an indicator of a crouch and launch of the defender at the defenseless player. The receiver in the clip essentially runs into the defender. There is no indicator of forcible contact. Therefore, no targeting.

@JoeDirtTrades @PatMcAfeeShow This is a no win situation for officials. It’s 3-0 in the 3rd Q of a BIG game. This is a gray area of officiating. The hit is in bounds and continuing action takes it out. You don’t want to”help” either team but that’s what it looks like either way. Tough no call.

Defender is within a yard of the player at the catch. It’s a bang/bang play. It’s unreasonable to expect the defender to make any adjustment to avoid the hit. Not targeting.

@nickyperks First, that’s not the Ref, it’s either Field Judge or Side Judge, depending on which half this occurred. Second, the official is in the Official’s box. The coach is not in the Coaches box. The rule on sideline interference is 15 yds for contact.
