When insurance companies create barriers to care, I take even better care of their patients.

Today, we performed a DIEP flap reconstruction for a Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas patient after securing a single case agreement so she could have her surgery at Redbud Surgery Center.

Her surgery took just 2 hours and 16 minutes, and she's doing great!

This is a reminder that patients are not powerless.

While Redbud is still working to become in network, this patient advocated for herself, asked questions, pushed back, and together we found a way forward.

Our approach is simple: do the right thing for the patient. Do the right thing for healthcare. Keep showing up. Keep finding solutions. Keep moving forward.

To this patient: thank you for advocating for yourself.

And to everyone navigating the healthcare system right now, don't give up. Sometimes getting the care you need requires persistence, appeals, and asking one more question. Keep going.
