@Adebayoadesanya Exactly, it was kinda a culture shock for real. It also shows that we have the Nigerian English and vocabulary, we just don’t talk about it because some people don’t realize it’s peculiar to Nigerians
I came across a Changan today and noticed something I genuinely wasn't expecting
A BMW engine! 😭
Before the Chinese car lovers come for me, I need someone to explain this one.
What exactly is going on here? 😂
Especially when buying Chinese vehicles.
Make sure you have professional technicians for them (Changan, Maxus) if you are not buying direct from Mikano. Also pls buy global spec and not the vehicles built for their domestic market.
When buying any car without a manufacturer’s warranty (like the case with Nigerian dealerships) always go with a professional technician who has a proper diagnostic scanner.
A car showing just 5,000 km on the dashboard can still:
- Have hidden faults.
- Need parts replaced due to manufacturing defects or early wear.
- Be affected by an unresolved manufacturer recall.
Low mileage doesn’t automatically mean a car is problem-free. A diagnostic scan and proper inspection can save you from expensive surprises.
COMMANDER INFANTRY CORPS REAFFIRMS COMMITMENT TO TROOPS’ WELFARE, COMMISSIONS NEW INFRASTRUCTURE AT 25 BRIGADE
In furtherance of the Nigerian Army’s commitment to enhancing combat readiness and improving troops’ welfare, the Commander Infantry Corps (CIC), Major General Godwin Mutkut, paid an operational visit to Headquarters 25 Brigade, Damboa, on 30 July 2026. During the visit, the senior officer received updates on ongoing operations, commissioned key infrastructure projects aimed at improving the Brigade’s operational capacity and personnel welfare, and commended officers and soldiers for their resilience, professionalism, and unwavering commitment to counter-terrorism operations under the Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI.
At the Brigade Operations Room, Major General Mutkut received a comprehensive briefing on the prevailing security situation, ongoing operations, key achievements, and operational challenges within the Brigade’s Area of Responsibility (AOR). He subsequently toured the Brigade Headquarters Base Camp, where he commissioned newly completed infrastructure projects, including the Brigade Commander’s Residence, the Headquarters Office Complex Annex, and the Brigade Guard Room, all executed by the Brigade Commander, Brigadier General Igwe Omoke.
Addressing the troops, the CIC acknowledged the highly contested operational environment in which they operate and conveyed the commendation of the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, NAM, for their courage, resilience, and unwavering commitment in countering terrorist threats. He also highlighted the Nigerian Army’s welfare initiatives aimed at improving the well-being of personnel and their families, stressing that enhanced welfare should translate into greater operational effectiveness and mission success.
Major General Mutkut reminded personnel to uphold the ethics, customs, and traditions of the Nigerian Army. He reiterated the Service’s zero-tolerance policy on drug abuse, theft, fighting among personnel, and the misuse of social media. He further urged soldiers to maintain strong family ties, noting that a stable home front remains critical to sustaining morale and enhancing operational effectiveness.
In his remarks, the Commander 25 Brigade, Brigadier General Igwe Omoke, expressed appreciation to the Commander Infantry Corps for the visit and continued support to the Brigade. He noted that the commissioning of the new infrastructure and the CIC’s words of encouragement would further motivate officers and soldiers to remain resolute in the discharge of their constitutional responsibilities.

Hundreds of civilians feared dead following airstrikes by the Nigerian Air Force yesterday against a market in Jilli, Borno State in northeast Nigeria.
According to the army, "scores of [ISWAP] terrorists" were killed, however upon further confirmation it became evident that the vast majority of victims were civilians, as reported by local residents, community leaders and relatives.
These airstrikes come as retaliation, or collective punishment, for the recent ISWAP attacks against the Ngamdu and Benisheikh military camps, which resulted in considerable human and material loss including the loss of a Brigadier General.
The Jilli market is currently managed and controlled by ISWAP, which explains the movements of militants in and out, however it is not used as a base of operations for the group, who prefers to lay its positions away from civilians to make sure no locals leak their movements to the army.
In December 2025, the NAF carried out similar airstrikes against fishermen living under ISWAP territory on the Lake Chad shores, resulting in several civilian deaths as well.
