We miss a government that is transparent, accountable, and while still imperfect, those in power acted like how public servants should, instead of being bullies and corrupt gods intoxicated with power.

@iMPACTPH2019 What a statement of a sitting senator. So unbecoming! Tama naman na hindi usapin ng relasyon ang impeachment, ito ay about accountability!
As a banker based in Makati, I was part of civil society that pressured the Senate to impeach Joseph Estrada and the former President to step down. We PCIBankers are proud of Clarissa Grey who bravely testified in the Senate that Estrada signed trust documents as Joseph Velarde.
As part of the crowd that marched from Ayala to Ortigas, I am aghast at the current Senate's action to honor a deposed President accused of funds misuse. On May 2025, we should change the composition of the Senate and elect candidates who honor history and public accountability. Some members of the poor may sell their votes for measly pesos, but we the broad middle classes who toil honestly and pay taxes religiously do not like being spat at.
Don't you feel sick seeing our society going to moral decay? Don't you feel sick in the stomach seeing our leaders govern badly, treat us like shit, misuse public money, and sell our national patrimony to foreign & local groups with vested interests? Let us change things please in May 2025.
"...trial by the Senate shall forthwith proceed." (Sec. 3, par. 4, Art. XI, 1987 Constitution)
"Forthwith" - adverb - definition: (especially in official use) immediately; at once; without delay.
Not 4 months later.
Article XI Section 3(4) of the 1987 Constitution CLEARLY provides that when the articles of impeachment are filed, "trial by the Senate shall forthwith proceed." The word "SHALL" is a command. The word "FORTHWITH" means immediately. Ano pa hinahantay ng Senate? The Constitution which is the HIGHEST and SUPREME law of the land is very clear and categorical. It must be obeyed. No rules or procedure of the senate can override the mandatory character of the Constitution The senators must act now. Proceed!!!
@djakasss Obviously, isa nanamang ofw na naniniwala pa rin sa mga duterte at sumasang ayon sa pagpatay sa mga addict. Pero ayaw naman magsiuwi! Pathetic!
It is about accountability, not timing!!Pres. Marcos Jr. should be further lectured on Constitutional law, good governance and accountability. He was quoted as saying "I don't think that now is the time to go through that" ,apparently referring to the impeachment moves against VP Sarah. If there are grounds to impeach, it is always the right time to give life to the fundamental rule that public office is a public trust. Erring officials must answer for their betrayal of the public trust if there are evidence to warrant it. Otherwise, delay can mean the fostering of a culture of impunity. President Marcos Jr. as implementor of the law and the Constitution ought to know that.
