Jinshi’s scar is not just a change to his appearance. It is the final message Loulan leaves on him.

After Shenmei’s death, Loulan does not attack Jinshi because of a personal grudge against him alone. She sees his face as a reminder of the imperial family and everything that destroyed her mother’s life.

The cut is her last act of anger toward the palace. What makes the scene even heavier is that Jinshi does not simply stop her.

He understands what the scar means. He knows it will affect how people see him, and he knows his followers may blame themselves for failing to protect him.

He still allows it because, for that moment, he accepts that Loulan has the right to leave her mother’s resentment on his face.

The scar also changes Jinshi’s image. Before it, people see an almost unreal beauty that resembles the former Emperor.

After it, he looks more like someone who has actually stood in the middle of the palace’s violence.

That is why the scar feels larger than a wound. It marks the point where Jinshi stops being only the beautiful man hidden behind a eunuch’s identity and becomes someone forced to carry the consequences of the imperial family’s past.

Loulan wanted to hurt the palace.
Instead, she gave Jinshi a permanent reminder of what the palace had done to her family.
