“You’re basically like a glorified taxi." Paramedics make life-altering decisions for their patients every day, writes @MarionRenault, but they remain all but excluded from institutional medicine. https://t.co/9gEXtGjfYt
“That medicine treats emergency medics like disposable, low-wage workers instead of the health-care professionals they are isn’t just unfortunate for the workers themselves—it also leads to less than optimal care for the rest of us on the day we may need it most.”
What would make EMS more viable as a stand alone profession outside of the fire service in those fire based systems? Would degrees and licensing add more credibility? What changes are needed?
2 question for emergency services staff.
If I gave you a scenario, would you be able to explain how you’d manage the job?
If so, would you be able to explain how you know how to do those things?

Last week I was on RSI Podcast by @FOAMfrat educators @OneRadMedic and @FireMedicFPC. 12-lead basics, advice we'd give our rookie selves, peri-intubation hypoxia, why learning advanced ECG skills isn't a waste of time, how it feels to retire from fire/EMS. https://t.co/B9CbuELcsv
