so many people cannot fathom that japanese work is destined for japanese people only, not westerners, which is hilarious
they really think that so called official translations can accurately translate japanese to english, which will obviously never be the case
it’s for the money, obviously. an author will never hand over their work for translation without getting something out of it
they know their work is meant only for a japanese audience but driven by greed they accept these so called « official translations » to cash in even more
@Arka161 well pride and profit aren't mutually exclusive. neither kanon nor HBR were free. if pride alone was the motive nothing stops key from releasing translation rights for free to fan teams. but it never happens, it's always a paid publisher
there is no such thing as an « official translation » and there never will be, cause that would mean destroying the author’s original work. but the eop are still not ready for this debate
