If walking costs you $1, we all pay $0.01. If biking costs you $1, we all pay $0.08. If bussing costs you $1, we all pay $1.50. If driving costs you $1, we all pay $9.20. Via @thediscourse study.
This isn’t just about choice. It’s about who pays for your choice.

@saanich@BCTransit@TransitYYJ@MobilitySaanich can't access west side of Shelbourne at Mckenzie to travel south by bus, both x walks closed; walked back to University heights and crossed on the fresh asphalt the guy at the corner warned me about; need pedestrian detour signage!
1/ This is the reality of trying to bike along #saanich urban corridors and council is discussing changes on Quadra at tomorrow council meeting.
I encourage you to email mayor and council and voice your support for quick-build projects item F.1 on tomorrow agenda.

Never forget, a 13-year study of a dozen cities found that protected bike-lanes led to a drastic decline in fatalities for ALL ROAD USERS. And painted bike-lanes? No safety improvement at all. As for sharrows, it’s safer to NOT have them. V/@StreetsblogUSA https://t.co/vTLLMF7m0e
Watching these xwalks at Michigan and Menzies can't help but notice cars speeding and failing to yield.
Imagine if these xwalks were raised! Immediate safety improvements for pedestrians and a strong message to remind drivers that pedestrians > cars.
