not sure what happened with my last tweet. i am slightly scared. did i upset the balance of the universe like richard from the amazing world of gumball
also because i talked about it more than a few times here. just letting you all know that i finally finished business school and immediately got hired 🎉🎉 i have a Job now
and, my company helps market video games. so in a way, i have been working in the video games industry for a few months now since my school internship. pretty cool to work in a field i’ve always been interested in
Media illiteracy has made it so viewers think all characters are equally important and should break out of their determined roles, which is not how fiction works.
A protagonist will always have the most screentime. A villain will generally get their comeuppance.
Something that kind of mystifies me about the way people interact with stories these days is the insistence on literally every single character getting equal amounts of attention or plot importance regardless of their actual role in the story
@cosmical_lovers it is incredibly stupid for these artists to not accept the currency of the country they're doing business in. and uh, i hope they do get some form of consequence as well
i don't care if people put my head on a stake for having this controversial take - maybe american artists tabling at canadian cons should either undergo a second vetting process, or they shouldn't be accepted into canadian cons 🤫
can we normalize artists and vendors going to Canadian cons having their prices in CAD instead of putting signs saying "sorry prices in USD"
like
ok?? what do you want me to do abt that
I don't carry usd on me as a Canadian? convert the prices you want from USD to CAD yourself???
part of me saying all this does stem from my own experience with applying to local events. but i also think of how many canadian artists i know and don't know who are in the same position as me
