In 2018, Vedanta made a R21 Billion investment commitment at the Presidential Investment Conference. To date over R6 Billion has been spent on Phase I, which increased zinc production from 75k tpa to approximately 300K tpa. Currently, R6.5 Billion is being spent on Phase II with the project planned for completion by early 2026. The completion of this phase will see production output rise to approximately 500K tpa, with employment estimated to rise above 5000 across the complex. Yesterday, we met with Deputy CEO Vijay Kumar for an update and plans to launch the commencement of phase III expansion and growth. Tackling unemployment is our number one priority!!!
