#Karuppu - I’m one of the financiers of the movie. #Suriya was the one who stood first for the movie’s financial difficulty but was devastated, saying there are just too many deficits and “I can only do this extent; after this, do whatever you can.” SR Prabhu and Prakash were the ones who borrowed the money but me and Arulbhathi sir stood before financiers like we borrowed the money and spoke to Anbuchezhiyan, Azhagar, and asked them to lower the demanded amount.

Arulbhathi sir was a major part in clearing the movie’s financial difficulty. He worked 2 days without sleep, without being related to the movie at all. Me and RB Choudary sir were also financiers. Arulbhathi asked us to lower 50%; we lowered 70%, taking only 30%, and said we’ll settle in the next film.

Sanjay and Jaswanth Bandari gave big support too. Still, there was a ₹5 crore shortage at the last minute. I said I’ll give ₹1 crore and asked SR Prabhu to approach all the popular directors and actors he had introduced. He called me back saying he asked many, but nobody gave, sir. To cover the remaining ₹5 crore, I said I can only give ₹1 crore; you already have a lot of pending money with me, I can’t give more. At the last minute, Rajasekhar Pandian said he’ll give the remaining money from Suriya’s side.

The financier part to release the movie was huge. If they had all asked full money, the movie would’ve become another #DhruvaNatchathiram. The next day, they should’ve thanked the financiers, especially Arulbhathi, but they thanked the hero, cameraman, etc.

#LokeshKanagaraj did #Maanaagram with them; for the next movie #Kaithi, they gave him a 4x–5x salary increase. It was a super duper hit. He should’ve done the next movie with them, but when big heroes came, he went for big salaries. When there was no identity for him, they gave him the introduction; he should at least do a movie with them. Producers should put a 5-year contract with producers hereafter if they introduce them.

#RJBalaji knew the financial condition of the producer but only posted a video. Director #HVinoth offered ₹1 crore for the movie to release, without being related to the movie.

The major reason for the deficit is SR Prabhu calculated that OTT would offer ₹75–80 crore; however, they only gave ₹30 crore, which resulted in a huge deficit and an 8-month delay. The movie was planned for a Diwali 2025 release itself.

In 2026, around 4–5 small movies ran well—#TTT, #ThaiKizhavi, #Youth, #Sirai. We expected #JananNayagan to give a major boost for cinema, but #Karuppu fixed that boost.
