He/him. Boston-based doc filmmaker and arts omnivore. Here I will shout into the void about new music, cinephile topics, left politics, occasionally sports.
@IFFBoston Fest serendipity in full effect. A touching bowling scene in @PLAN75movie >>> Many bowling scenes in @JoinOrDieFilm about Robert Putnam’s seminal “Bowling Alone.” Programming points aside, both films were moving testaments to the loss of communality in modern life.
Navalny was easily the least interesting of the nominees. There was genuine news-breaking captured in the film, but in terms of form and pushing the art of documentary, it paled in comparison to All That Breathes, Fire of Love, ATBATB, etc.
@mdigiovanna@tipping_pitches Yeah now that you mention it, that just ain’t right for a big company like JM to rip off the content of a small upstart media company like MLB Network
@BillSimmons You should sell the Playoff Manifesto as a coffee table book with all the different versions from over the years, including deep dives into the games that caused you to add, remove, tweak a rule. Would be a great take on NFL playoff history.
@OleTimeHardball If you take a few moments to learn about it, it’s quite a unique and moving tribute to MLK and Coretta Scott King. Also wtf this have to do with baseball?
Hirokazu Koreeda has long been one of my favorite filmmakers, but #Broker played out like a Korean Lifetime movie about the merits of choosing to birth a child under any circumstances.
