@murphdogg29@SharonFull64364 Still diminishing his MUSICAL influence His fusion of blues country gospel & pop invented the rockabilly sound Johnny Cash took it from there Its still among the best music ever created Scotty Moores guitar playing influenced GENERATIONS of players like George and Keith
@murphdogg29@SharonFull64364 I agree. I also don't consider Elvis, to be the king. Chuck is my favorite. His lyricism is best in class. That doesn't mean Elvis isn't great and to say his music is inferior to Chuck, Richard, Holly, Jerry Lee, Fats, etc. seems reactionary at best
@murphdogg29@SharonFull64364 I mean, it can be argued that Elvis' career was also affected by him going into the army and then returning to be under the control of the Colonel
@murphdogg29@SharonFull64364 When Chuck was out of prison. He had a few hits, "Nadine" and "No Particular Place to Go". After that, all of his songs are crap including his 70s hit "My Ding A Ling". Little Richard aslo never recaptured his early energy
@murphdogg29@SharonFull64364 What do those reasons have to do with anything? The rock n roll wave of the 50s died out by the end of the decade for a myriad of reasons, like the ones you mentioned. That doesn't negate the impact of either of those artists early music
@murphdogg29@SharonFull64364 Also, virtually all first generation rock and rollers were washed up after '58. Little Richard and Chuck Berry included. So it's unfair to only judge Elvis by those standards. Motown, Phil Spector, Brill Building and Teen pop dominated before The Beatles arrived
@murphdogg29@SharonFull64364 The way he was mixing country and western with rhythm and blues was groundbreaking. No one else was doing that shit in '54. That's what made it so revolutionary. People just take it for granted nowadays
@murphdogg29@SharonFull64364 I agree he was pretty much artistically dead after '57. However I still consider the Sun Sessions peak music and mad influential. It practically invented the rockabilly sound and Scotty Moore's guitar playing deserves praise aswell
