The most ancient of trees, the Yew symbolises #Saturn & death, but also the rebirth of light at the winter solstice. It is Old Magic, dark dreams, Otherworld journeys & connection to ancestors. It is perseverance leading to transformation. It is renewal. #FairyTaleTuesday
Even in winter, the wood calls out to be walked. Its paths tell your boots to ignore the mud. Its occulted roots whisper to your bones with promises of clearings you've never encountered before. The way into it is a seduction that makes even the oldest of us young again.

@SStarmeroid@AtHomeOnTheMoor@Peston My husband is a teacher. Nowhere near being able to retire at 51, certainly don't have any "surplus" salary- we are watching the bank balance each month as payday gets near and we decide what to do without this month.

Thank you so much to @kerriandrewsuk for tonight’s absolutely mesmerising Cultural Landscapes talk on Nan Shepherd and the power of walking. A really special event, during which we were immersed in Shepherd’s private and public writings on mountains and place 📚🍃@CNPPA_UoC
This is the lovely Jeremy Clarkson. He’s used his show ‘Clarkson’s Farm’ to vilify Badgers as responsible for the spread of bTB and has shot all the Badgers on his farm
He’d hate it if people ‘RT'd’ this and signed the petition to end the Badger cull..

@ScarredForLife2 The tarring and feathering scene in Huckleberry Finn. I didn't really understand it at the time but the looks of terror and anguish on the scalded men stayed with me a long time.
