Took time over his last few days to speak to him, my mum and me to check we were coping, rested and comfortable both with home visits/telephone calls plus excellent geriatrician who text, call & visited this made such a difference to our journey to death @BryonyShannon
On this day many moons ago I met my hero for the first time my dad after a difficult birth he met me before I met my mum & today was his last breath & he will now stay with me forever. His care has been mixed some good some not.(1/3)
2/3 two of his carers came after death & took the time to wash and dress him before being taken away with car, compassion, kindness. A gp took less than 5mins to confirm death and leave certificate with little compassion or care in contrast to a gp who
I remember seeing a parent after being told they won't 'engage'.She was defensive after an hour said bet you're going now like the rest do I told her I had plenty of time she relaxed told me her story & we started a relationship of trust. She was one of many. Great blog!
