I told them that Asiwaju does not have the right Twitter verification badge. They asked me how that will reduce the price of garri in the market?
So they know? They are actually suffering & smiling. If they cannot do a task as simple as having the right verification badge, how can they run the economy?
The Nigeria problem is not just the lack of responsible leadership, it’s as much the lack of responsible followership.
Many Nigerians are in chains. And when you remove their locks, they won’t even know how to step a foot outside. “12 years a slave,” but those in Nigeria have been slaves all their lives.
The children of slaves, their parents were slaves as well. Nigeria carefully produced slavish citizens since the “Cement Armada” in 1976. A country with plenty & hunger living side by side in perfect harmony.
In Nigeria’s hierarchy of government right now? there are no leaders but rulers. Like prodigal children, irresponsible followers enjoy eating from the crumbs of corruption & the (ethnoreligious divides) created by their ethnoreligious warlords masquerading as leaders.
Before now, you can comfortably move back to the village “temporarily,” if life in the city became unbearable. Nowadays? you can’t do that. Apart from banditry & kidnappings, Rural Inflation is off the roofs.
Driven by insecurity; farmers can’t go to their farms. Then the Energy inflation. Petrol is sold as high as N750 in most rural areas. This is the situation in Nigeria right now; rural dwellers are gnashing their teeth.
"A nation of entrepreneurs, Nigeria’s more than 200 million citizens who are skilled at managing in tough circumstances, without the services States usually provide. The pain is widespread, unions strike to protest salaries of around $20 a month." — The New York Times.
In other words, “more than 200 million Nigerians are & suffering & smiling.”
Did the New York Times lie about Nigeria?
Food for thought.
